06-10-2022

The Bluesign® standard is a new generation of ecological standards for environmental, and consumer organizations in the EU. This standard was announced on Oct. 17, 2000 in Hanover, Germany by Bluesign Technologies AG, a company based in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Bluesign- approved textile brands and products, meaning the processes and products align ecologically with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), are the latest global environmental protection standard and ansure consumer safety when using.

Many environmental protection standards do tests on finished products, while Bluesign® does the contrary. This standard verifies if the raw materitals and processes are compliant before production so as to prohibit hazardous substances from the beginning. This standard is designed based on the concept that if the materials contain no hazardous substances, then the end product will be green.

The Bluesign® standard is mainly based on the following 5 principles:

Resource Productivity

Dedicated to manufacturing products of maximum quality and added value by minimizing the consumption of resources, as well as reducing environment impact.

Consumer Safety

Consumer safety means high quality textiles, harmlessness to health, and the application of sustainable principle during manufacturing.

Air Emission

In the whole production process, exhaust emission must be strictly controlled. Use low-emission componenst, optimize energy use, and reduce CO2 emissions.

Water Emission

The goal of water emissions is to return the purified water to the natural cycle and reduce the pollution to rivers, lakes and oceans to a minimum. To achieve this goal, you can apply sustainable components and optimize production and wastewater treatment technology.

Occupational Health & Safety

This concerns the health and Safety to employees in the textile industry. It means detecting and improving possible partial defects according to regulations.
